Welcome to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Borgaon, Satara

The   Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level Farm Science Center established by the   Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri at Satara District for   speedy transfer of technology to the farmers fields. The aim of Krishi Vigyan   Kendra is to reduce the time lag between Generation of technology at the   research institutions and it’s transfer to the farmer’s field for increasing   production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a   sustained basis.

The   Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Borgaon Tal. Dist. Satara established in the year 2010 under ICAR-ATARI, Pune Zone-VIII and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri.Satara District comprises of total 11 Tahsils out of which 6 Tahsils viz. Satara, Phaltan, Wai, Mahabaleshwar, Jaoli, Khandala comes under the jurisdiction of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Borgaon.

Mandates of KVK:

  1. Conducting “On-Farm Testing” for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use systems.      
  2. Organizing training to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
  3. Organizing   short and long term training courses in agriculture and allied   vocations for the farmers and rural youths with emphasis on Learning by   doing for higher production on farms and generating self-employment.
  4. Conducting Front Line Demonstration (FLDs) on various crop to generate production data and feedback information.
  5. Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers.
  6. To work as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district.
